This year’s presidential election results will be like the elections during my ancestors’ lifetimes, in that a winner will not be declared tonight. In the 1800’s prior to the 1850’s and the advent of the telegraph, results were not known for weeks and after the advent of the telegraph it still took days. So waiting a few days will be something that is not unordinary. But I still plan to watch the coverage tonight though I have been watching “Queen’s Gambit” on Netflix, so will probably take in an episode before the polls close here in Florida.
My day was again spent working on my personal property inventory list of flood damaged items, so I can submit the list to my insurance and get reimbursed. I have to admit, it gets a little tedious, and by 3pm I could not work another minute. I had got bogged down listing all my vintage linens that were in my vintage suitcase that got wet. Unfortunately they had sat in the wet suitcase a few days before I opened it, and I could not wash them because my washing machine had stopped working after the flood. I will probably dream about them tonight.
