Escape Pod

Day 168 of Safer-at-Home here in Panama City Beach, Florida. Today’s statistics from Florida’s Community Coronavirus Dashboard for Bay County are 5,447 cases and 83 deaths, and for Florida are 670,985 cases and 11,331 deaths. Hospitalizations have decreased in that there are 33 patients locally, which I hope is a trend.

I started out calling my shed a studio, then changed it to a workshop. But in reality neither of those monikers seem right to me. But whatever I call it, it is my escape pod from the challenges of everyday life. I can go there and play and forget about my long “To Do” list. Today was such a day.

Liquid Enamel and Crackle by MK

After a few days away from the shed, I always have a little bit of a re-entry problem. But I find that if I show up, the creativity begins to flow. I have been working on crackle and liquid enamels. I am happy with the samples I made today and feel I can move on to the next technique on my list. One great thing about having a separate building to create in, I can just leave everything I am working on out and close the door.

But I did deal with a little reality today. The laundry room, which flooded on Tuesday and a little bit on Saturday, has dried out enough for me to begin to clean it out. It is very small, just room for the hot water heater, the washer and dryer, plus I have two shelving units to store things on. But I also had plied in my yard tools, and some camping supplies. I hope to turn the small shed into the yard building, but am waiting for cooler weather before I clean it out. Once I got all these extra things out of the laundry room it was so much easier to function, so maybe I better start cleaning out the small shed soon.
