Yesterday as I was getting ready to come into the office and write my blog, I dropped off something in the kitchen and noticed some water on the floor. I was trying to figure out where it was coming from, when I realized it was seeping in from the laundry room. We had been having Tropical Storm Marco weather all day, and the last band had left a lot of rain,. I looked out and the screened porch was flooded almost to the door to the house and had overflowed into the laundry room, which is an extension of the porch, though it is a step up. The last time this had happened was a few years ago on the Fourth of July when we had monsoon like rains. Once I got all the water cleaned up, I went into my bathroom and saw that the septic tank had back up. So I began to clean that up. Luckily the rain soon stopped.
So today was clean up day. I washed and bleached the old towels I used to clean up the mess. I also tried to rearrange the furniture in the dining area, but ended up putting it back like it was. Except I was able to move the water cooler out on the porch, which freed up some space.
In fact I have been editing my possessions since I had the windows installed on Friday. I moved out an old desk from my bedroom. And I have been eliminating knick knacks as I begin to put the house back together. I have decided I have too much stuff and I want a less cluttered life.
Unfortunately they were not able to install the sliding glass door, as the frame was cut too big. Hopefully they will have it ready in a couple of weeks.
