Somewhere between awake and asleep, I could hear the thunder right over my head. But sleep was calling me and I was drifting back into slumber, when Moonie, the cat, went on a tirade. It sounded like the house was on fire, so urgent was her meowing. She jumped on the bed and started meowing in my ear. Usually she leaves me alone until she is sure I am awake, but not this morning. So I slowly became more awake and followed her into the kitchen and fed her. But her anxiety level stayed high even after eating. I guess the loud thunder unnerved her, so I cuddled with her for awhile. And she eventually settled down.
Once I am awake, I am awake. So I had my tea and breakfast, then I spent some time on my front yard, weed eating and pulling weeds. The rain had cooled things down and I worked until the temperature began to rise. Because of the heat, my yard is suffering from neglect. I definitely need to find someone to take care of my yard next summer.
After the yard work, I could tell I could use another hours worth of sleep, so I could function at my best. The rest of the day I continued getting my house in order so that nothing is in front of the windows when the new ones are installed on Friday, plus continuing to clean. But today, I have to admit, it was more of a chore.
