Day 84 of Safer-at-Home here in Panama City Beach, Florida. This morning’s statistics for COVID-19 for Bay County are 111 confirmed cases and 4 deaths, and for Florida are 60,183 cases and 2,607 deaths. I think we are beginning to see the effects of the loosening of restrictions as today was the highest number of new cases in Florida to date. Of course there is more testing now, as they have lifted the age restriction on who can get a test.
Today I met with my friends Nancy and Theresa in person; the first time in over two months. Theresa and Nancy watercolored and though I brought a project to work on, I just talked. We tried to maintain our 6 feet of social distance, and we did not go out to lunch as we usually did.
I did get called away for an hour to meet with the roofer. In addition to the new roof, they are also going to repair the rot in the screen porch and the damaged soffits and fascia. Plus I am having them remove the chimney, as we enclosed the fire place when we remodeled. Weather permitting, they should start work on the roof next week.
Yesterday I made two salads with all my produce. The first one was a cucumber, tomato and onion salad and the second was a snow pea, radish, cucumber and onion salad. Each had a different dressing. I enjoy having some ready to eat food available when I get busy and don’t feel like cooking, which is most evenings.
When I turned on the news this afternoon, the funeral for George Floyd was in progress. The attendees were standing and observing eight minutes and forty seconds of silence. That was a very long time, a very long time.
