Grocery Day

Day 63 of Sheltering-in-Place here in Panama City Beach, Florida. This morning’s statistics for COVID-19 for Bay County are 78 confirmed cases and 3 deaths, and for Florida are 43,210 cases and 1875 deaths. Next week we should be seeing the effects of loosening of the restrictions and I am hoping for the best.

This morning I Zoomed with Nancy and Theresa. The forty minutes goes by too fast. They did offer up their husbands to move my workbench into the studio. So Craig and Jim came over about noon time and moved it for me, plus they moved the rolling mill, the metal guillotine, and the other heavy tools that belong on the workbench. Yeah! I still have to put up shelves and add some art to the walls, but that can happen over time.

I made it to the grocery store today. I have been trying to make my groceries last 10 days and I could have made it one more day, but I figured that the store would be less crowded today. One change I noticed at Publix was that they made the aisles one way, which I think is a good thing. Of course there were the people that did not follow the rules, as there were people without masks. I just think they are selfish. The mask is to protect other people, so they only care about themselves. I would like for the cashiers to have a protective shield in front of them for their protection.

My Butcher Box came today and I had already begun planning my meals for the month. One dish I found last night on my internet search for cornmeal dumplings was Tex-Mex Chicken Soup with Cornmeal Dumplings. I definitely want to try it as a way to use part of the whole chicken that came in my box. so I think I will bake the chicken and eat the breast and wings and some of the crispy skin and save the thighs and legs for the soup after I use the carcass to make bone broth.

For some reason the grocery store trip exhausted me. I am wondering if it is because I am more vigilant about my surroundings, as I try to keep a safe distance form other shoppers as I am trying to get in and out of the store quickly. Or maybe it is because the prices have really gone up and that is stressful for the budget.
