Day 50 of Sheltering-in Place here in Panama City Beach, FL. Today’s statistics for COVID-19 for Bay County are 72 confirmed cases and 3 deaths and for Florida are 34,728 cases and 1314 deaths. The governor will start phase one of reopening the state on Monday except for South Florida. I think it it is too soon, but time will tell.
I am scheduled to teach a Continuing Ed class at Gulf Coast State College on Mondays during the month of June and at the Bead Gallery downtown on three Wednesday in June. But will wait and see what happens, I may have to cancel. The Bead Gallery is opening to the public on Monday, but don’t know the status of the college. Of course teaching right now doesn’t meet the criteria for being open to the public yet.
This was another wake up too early day, this time caused by what I call a sinus headache. After three cups of tea and breakfast, I decided I just better put one foot in front of the other and head out to the Studio to be productive. I fired the last coat of the two new crackle circles. One came out looking like Mr. Bill and should work for one of my shamans.
Then I started to decoupage one of the shelves that had been in storage for ever. They are in good shape except for the paper laminate is peeling off, so I thought decoupaging would spruce them up. At one time my husband was a boat captain and he had stored tons of ocean charts in the shed that is now my studio. When I cleaned out the shed I was able to rescue some of the charts and thought this would be a good use of them. Today I got one side of one shelf done. Then I decided it was lunch time.
For lunch I fixed tacos from some of the leftover chili I made yesterday. During lunch I watched a episode of Crafting in America, this one about fiber arts. I also make some corn salsa. Though I didn’t have all the ingredients, I made do with what I had. For some reason, I had a can of pickled jalapeños in the pantry, so opened the can and chopped up one of the jalapeños. Instead of limes, I used some lemon juice I had squeezed and froze that was from a friend’s tree. The salsa will accompany the pork chop I plan to have for dinner.
Then back to the studio to finish the faces I enameled the other day. In all it was a good day. I am glad I made he effort.
