Day 33 of Sheltering in Place here in Panama City Beach, FL. This morning’s statistics for the virus in Bay County is 38 confirmed cases with 2 deaths. Unfortunately a 72 year old woman died on April 2. For Florida it is 21,367 cases and 524 deaths. Every day a sad day.
One of the benefits of my early morning walks is seeing the sunrise over the Lagoon, which I can see from the three boat ramps on my street. This one is from the new boat ramp at Dolphin & S. Lagoon, which had to be replaced after Hurricane Michael.
Today was another Zoom day and an excuse to “Dress Up.” We practiced yesterday and today was out real meeting. We had read The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon. We had a lively discussion as we had a limit of only 40 minutes, so we couldn’t go off on tangents like we like to do. Our next book is When We Believed in Mermaids by Barbara O’Neal, which I had already read and enjoyed. So looking forward to rereading it.
Looking forward to my first Butcher Box meat order, which is due to arrive this week. I ordered produce and a few staples from Publix by way of Instacart. I got same day delivery which is a first for me, usually its next day delivery. I am going to try to make these groceries last two weeks. I think I made it ten days on my last order. I signed up with Misfits Market to have organic produce delivered, but was only able to get on their waiting list.
I think I have a solution for the back of the cart I am putting together with no instructions and missing parts. It will require some sawing. So tomorrow I am going to test out the one blade I have for the jigsaw. If the blade is no good I will have to wait for the ones I ordered to get here. I also made a cardboard template for the 6 shelves I have to saw to fit into the cabinet I painted. And I continued to bring more stuff from my old studio. And still have more stuff to bring.
Yesterday I ventured into a public place for the first time in 32 days by loading up my mask and handi-wipes. I needed to get something notarized and since my credit union is only drive-thru now I went to the nearest UPS store. Monday was definitely not a good day to go, as it was very crowded. While they did have stations marked six feet apart, not everyone was abiding by them, plus only one other lady was wearing a mask and none of the staff. In addition the staff was not cleaning their hands after touching each person’s package or document. Of course I goofed as I only brought the page that needed my signature and she would not notarize it without the other pages of the document. Maybe I am being overly cautious, but I am not going back. Tomorrow I will do it digitally.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy.
